PRESS RELEASE: MON JAN 13, 2020: Fitzpatrick Disrespects the Pro-Life Movement, Republicans
Today, Andy Meehan issued the following statement:
I applaud our Senator, Patrick Toomey, and eight of our nine Republican Members of Congress for joining the amicus brief calling on the Supreme Court to reconsider Roe v. Wade.
However, the Republican voters of the First Congressional District are again embarrassed by our incumbent Congressman, Brian Fitzpatrick, for once again standing against our Republican values by refusing to join the brief.
However, he is eager to serve the Democrats’ liberal agenda by voting to fund Planned Parenthood’s billion-dollar abortion business with taxpayer money.
While I am pro-life, those with different points of view on the issue can agree that ‘Roe’ was a sloppily-decided expansion of the judiciary’s power and that abortion is an issue that should primarily be legislated at the state-level.
When I’m elected, I will take pride in standing unified with other Republicans, including President Trump, and fighting for our agenda, not obstructing it.
